When I woke up in rehab, I didn’t know if I’d ever walk unassisted, remember names, or feel like me again. Brain injury doesn’t just shake your body — it rattles your sense of self. But piece by piece, memory by memory, I started rebuilding.
Like a snowflake, every brain injury survivor’s journey is unique. Our patterns may be shaped by similar storms, but no two recoveries look alike. That’s why I chose to write my book, Like a Snowflake: My Experience and Recovery from T.B.I. — to show the shape mine took, with all its cracks and curves, and to help others find their own.

I wanted survivors to see that setbacks don’t erase progress. I wanted families to understand the courage it takes to navigate each day. I wanted caregivers to feel seen for the patience, skill, and compassion they give, often without applause.
Telling my story has been about more than healing my past — it’s about lighting a path forward for someone who’s in the dark right now. Whether you’re a survivor, a loved one, or a caregiver, know this: your journey matters. Your voice matters. And if sharing mine helps even one person take a deep breath and keep going, it’s worth every word.

I’m doing this blog because Being My Best Matters isn’t just a phrase. It’s a choice I make daily, no matter how difficult the day. I’m back blogging, so over the weeks ahead, I’ll share more stories, tools, and insights that I hope will encourage and equip you — because recovery isn’t a solo mission.
If my story resonates with you, share it. Tag a survivor. Send it to a caregiver. Let’s keep building this community together.
Keep fighting survivors!
